Nintendo DS Claims Best Selling Console in the U.S.

Nintendo has claimed the top spot of the best selling console in the United States, edging out the previous record holder the ten year old PS2.

There have been more than 47 million DS units sold there at the end of 2010, which include the classic DS Fat, the DS Lite, DSi and DSi XL. On that note, the Wii has upwards of 34 million units sold since its launch in November 2006 till the end of 2010, which means that 1 in 10 people personally own a Wii in the States, which is major inroads for Nintendo. Lets hope the 3DS and whatever Nintendo cooks up for the next home console will be a smashing  success and killer fun as well.
