Today is the start of the Consumer Electronics Show 2011 (CES). For anyone interested in technology, the next 4 days will certainly be exciting ones. CES is a technology based trade show that started in 1967 and is held annually in Las Vegas. It has been the event where many major breakthroughs were announced and is one of the best events to get a peek at what is to come this year. Technologies like the VCR, NES, Blu-ray, and OLED were all first shown at CES.
This year is going to be an interesting one as the industry tries to rebound from a poor showing last year due to the recession. It is expected that the next Windows OS will be introduced as well as improvements to software applications in the Xbox 360 and PS3 (mainly their online services). Nintendo has decided against an exhibition this year (and has not made an appearance in the last 16 years). However, with the 3DS just around the corner, one can only hope that teasers will be released around this time.

Nintendo is actually at CES this year but opted not to have a booth. They’re actually only taking meetings if I remember correctly. Maybe they have some 3DS’s behind some closed doors for demo! :O
