If you thought SOPA and PIPA were bad and that it was all over with, I hate to be he harbinger of bad news but ACTA is their big brother and it’s a lot worse!
Many countries, including Canada, Japan, United States, Australia, Mexico and Much of Europe has signed this bill as early as October 2011 without much fanfare! Even amidst protests, Poland has now signed the bill as well! The rapporteur for ACTA has resigned on January 26, 2012 and said:
“I want to send a strong signal and alert the public opinion about this unacceptable situation. I will not take part in this masquerade.”
ACTA is controversial enough that a group of 75+ law professers signed a letter to President Obama to stop ACTA and change it, citing that it would threaten public interest.
