No surprise here. Don Mattrick, President, Interactive Entertainment Business has confirmed what many suspected shortly after the PS4 presentation at E3 this year. Essentially, the Xbone will no longer require an online connection, restrict sharing used games, or support region lock. The move reverses almost all the DRM features and was done because they “listened to their fans”.
What concerns many now is the possibility that all these features can be turned back at any given time through an update. I think so much damage was done in the initial release that it will probably take a few years before gamers can trust Microsoft again. In North America, the Xbone will thrive as usual, but internationally, it will definitely be an uphill battle this holiday season.
