In response to the recent launch of Sony’s Playstation 4 and Microsoft’s Xbox One, Nintendo released games for two of their biggest franchise at the same day to compete this holiday season.
Both Mario and The Legend of Zelda franchises received a new game. Super Mario 3D World is a 3D platformer for the Wii U and a sequel to Super Mario 3D Land on 3DS. With an already great game like Super Mario Galaxy in the past, the expectation is set quite high but 3D World delivers with fresh new ideas, healthy challenges and 4 player support.
The Legend of Zelda also received a new game on 3DS. The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Two Worlds is the long anticipated sequel of the SNES A Link to the Past. Again, the SNES masterpiece sets a high expectation but Two Worlds polished the game such that it’s still similar to its predecessor. In a way, it feels like a nostalgic trip playing A Link to the Past even though you’re not. You can also pick up a 3DS XL bundle with a limited edition gold 3DS and a voucher for a digital copy of the game.
Both games are out at the same date of November 22nd 2013. An event such as this is really rare as both Mario and Zelda games are usually big enough to be released separately over long intervals.
As for me, I’m busy replaying A Link to the Past to prepare for the 3DS sequel.
