Fighting – Super Smash Bros for Wii U (Wii U)
Yeah, I know that the two fighting games are one of the same, but the reason I gave the edge to the Wii U version is due to the variety of control schemes and you can play on a bigger screen. It’s appeal is still as big as ever and gameplay is smooth. Online is getting a better for the Wii U. New maps, characters and gameplay mechanics are always welcome in this brawler. 8 player smash is chaotic at best and is sometimes almost unplayable, but definitely gives a good chuckle when playing with friends.
Platformer – Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze (Wii U)
Donkey Kong definitely was another gem. Adding co-op play to it was an added bonus
Puzzle – Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy (3DS)
It’s another great addition to the Professor Layton franchise with a decent story to back up a puzzle game
