Nintendo Direct for Switch 2

The time has finally come for a full feature Nintendo Direct for the Switch 2! It’s been a long time coming as official info has been scarce and I’m excited to see what Nintendo has in store for us in the upcoming launch window and the upcoming year! In the words of Reggie Fils-Aime: My body is ready!

The Switch 2 will be released on June 5, 2025 and will have a price of $450 USD, $630 CAD, $396 GBP or $430 Euros. There will be a Mario Kart World bundle available as well at launch.

Some notable games that were featured were Mario Kart World, allowing for 24 players, new modes that include one focussed on exploration. Metroid Prime 4 can be played at 4k60 or 1080P120. A new Donkey Kong Bananza game will be launched in July 17, A new Kirby Air Riders game. Gamecube games will be coming to Nintendo Online service. Some notable titles include Legend of Zelda Wind Waker and F-Zero GX.

The included dock has a cooling fan inside and has a max output of 4k resolution. The Switch 2 features a large7.9″ LCD screen with 1080P resolution, plays the majority of OG Switch games and has 256GB of internal storage. There is a new Switch 2 camera accessory that can be plugged in through the USB C port. the C button on the right joycon is for chats with friends. There is a gameshare feature for select titles to play multiplayer off one copy of a game. This is remenscent of a DS feature back in the day. For expanded storage, it takes microSD express cards. Unfortunately regular microSD cards are not compatible with the console.

The Switch 2 Pro controller also features a 3.5mm audio port, which is convenient if you want to listen in on audio without using TV speakers.
