The time has finally come for a full feature Nintendo Direct for the Switch 2! It’s been a long time coming as official info has been scarce and I’m excited to see what Nintendo has in store for us in the upcoming launch window and the upcoming year! Nintendo has finally released a first look trailer for the Nintendo Switch 2. It will be backwards compatible with both physical and digital Switch games, bigger screen and has magnetic joycons with revised joysticks and a U shaped kickstand. No major hardware specs have been noted, but there will be another dedicated Nintendo Direct on April 2, 2025.

It’s the end of an era with official 3DS and Wii U Online Servers going offline permanently. Games that had previous online play modes like Mario Kart 8, Animal Crossing New Leaf, Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, Kid ICarus Uprising and Super Smash Bros are now limited to local single or multi player.

The lead architect of the NES and SNES, Masayuki Uemura has passed away at the age of 78 on December 6, 2021. He had a major hand in creating the NES and SNES as the lead engineer and had a hand in producing games like Ice Climber and Clu Clu Land.
He had retired from Nintendo in 2004 and transitioned into a professor at Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto, which broke the news earlier today.
It’s a sad day to see an icon of the gaming world pass away.

Sora joins the fight in Smash Bros Ultimate on October 18, 2021 and will be the final fighter added to this game. It’s a sad day that there will be no more new fighters added, but it has been a long run.

The original Nintendo Switch gets a price drop in Europe and is now €270 (£230). Price drops in other regions may be coming soon to keep in line with the new European pricing of the Switch.
