The news of the new Pokemon games comes from a new Pokemon-centric Nintendo Direct that happened today, ahead of the series’ 20th anniversary on February 27. Not much is known about the game besides a new legendary had been revealed and the game will be available Holiday 2016. Nintendo also announced that the 3DS Virtual Console re-releases of Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow will use the Pokemon Bank app to transfer monsters between games virtually. Those games will be available on February 27.

IBM Sponsors “Sword Art Online: The Beginning” VR Development
IBM Japan has taken on a project of making the VRMMO world of Reki Kawahara’s Sword Art Online light novels into reality, hopefully sans the whole brain frying deaths thing. A site has been launched for applications for 208 lucky souls to alpha test SAO. Applicants will be selected by lottery to try out the experience in Tokyo on March 18 and 20.
Participants will be scanned in 3D to interact with the virtual space using IBM’s Cloud Services and SoftLayer technologies. Kirito (Yoshitsugu Matsuoka), Asuna (Haruka Tomatsu) and Yui (Kanae Ito) will be lending their voices for this project.

Star Wars VIII set for December 15, 2017
Today Lucasfilm and Disney announced that Star Wars VIII will be released on December 15, 2017 instead of Summer 2017 as previously slated. It is written and directed by Rian Johnson and is in pre-production. Principal Photography will commence in London next month. Either way, I’m stoked for the next movie!
