It looks like the new device that’s coming out from Nintendo later this year will have a 3-8 hour battery life which means that you will need to have an external source of power pretty close by to keep those juices flowing in the 3DS. Continue reading

Razor Switchblade = PURE AWESOME

The Razor Switchblade made its debut at CES yesterday. It is a mobile gaming platform that features customizable keys. It is absolutely amazing. Every key on the keyboard is an lcd and can be customized to meet your gaming needs. Even better is the Switchblade’s ability to recognize games and intelligently create a layout for you. The only issue might be the fact that it screen is too small for some games but make no mistake, if portable gaming were to ever take form, this is what it would look like. Continue reading

Nintendo had considered a 3D Gameboy Advance

Nintendo had considered releasing a 3D Gameboy Advance but put the idea on hold until the 3DS. The reason that they put the idea on hold was that the LCD screens back in 2001 didn’t have the quality needed to make good quality 3D screens. Also Iwata let slip that the Gamecube was 3D capable as well too but it would have increased production costs by quite a bit. He also mentioned that they did have a 3D version of Luigi’s Mansion as well. At least Nintendo held off on this technology until now, where 3D screens are readily available and are of a good enough quality to pass their quality control.

Avatar Kinect

During Steve Ballmer’s pre-show keynote address, he demonstrated the features of Avatar Kinect. The most important of which was the fact that Kinect sensors will now be able to track facial expressions. The video was actually quite impressive and shows the life-like features of the avatars. Avatar Kinect will also feature “conference rooms” where users can choose between 15 different settings to hold conversations with their friends. Pretty cool overall and best of all, it will be free for Xbox Gold members!

Kinect causes XBox 360 to RRoD

It seems that the new motion control add on for the XBox 360 causes some of the older models to RRoD. There doesn’t seem to be a specific thing with Kinect that seems to trigger the older models to RRoD, and it may even be caused by the extended hours used when playing Kinect or the extra horsepower that it uses that pushes it over the edge and causing massive overheating.

Went to my local parts store today to see if they had the new Sandy Bridge processors for sale. They had the boxes up but no product just yet. Kind of disappointing but it was to be expected. For the most part, they were taking pre-orders. There were a lot of people eyeing the new cpu (boxes) and quite a few that actually ordered. Continue reading
